Edgeworthstown car fire probe

Gardai say they are following a “certain line of inquiry” after two cars were set alight in the Edgeworthstown area at the weekend.

The first, a red Peugeot, was spotted on fire at around 10:30pm on Saturday night in the town's Devine Crescent estate.

Around three hours later, a silver Toyota Hiace was set alight.

Both vehicles have since been taken away for a full forensic examination.

In the meantime, and as gardai await the results of those, anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the area leading up to both incidents is asked to contact Granard Garda Station at (043) 3350570.
