Pattern of decline in live register figures across the region

Longford's live register dropped by 11% in past year

The latest live register figures from the Central Statistics Offices show a slight decrease in Co Longford, down to 3,786 in April 2016.

This was just 101 less people on the live register than in March 2016.

However it is a marked decline on April 2015 when 4, 271 people were on the live register - making this a 11% decrease year on year.

Overall, the national unemployment rate for April 2016 was 8.4%, down from 8.6% in March 2016 and down from 9.7% in April 2015.

Around the region, Cavan saw a year on year drop of 8.4% with 5,221 people on the live register in April.

Leitrim’s live register figures dropped 11% year on year, to 2,489 in April. Roscommon’s live register dropped by 7.6% to 3,022 and

Westmeath’s dropped 8% to 8,029 in April.
