Longford District Court: Fined €350 for speeding

A man who appeared at last week’s sitting of Longford District Court charged under the Road Traffic Act was convicted and fined €350 following a hearing into the matter.

Kevin McCarthy, 27 Rossfield Park, Tallaght, Co Dublin appeared before Judge Seamus Hughes charged with exceeding the speed limit by driving over 100km/h at Rathowen, Co Westmeath on April 24, 2015.

Mr Brady of the speed detection unit said he had been operating a check on the date in question when he detected the defendant driving at 126mk/h in a 100km/h zone.

Judge Hughes subsequently convicted Mr McCarthy and fined him €350 in respect of the matter.
