Longford Gardaí following "definite line of inquiry" into Dealz assault

It has been confirmed today that Longford Gardaí are now following "a definite line of inquiry" in their investigation into an assault that occurred in the Market Square branch of Dealz last week.  

The incident, which took place shortly before 3pm on Wednesday, April 1, occurred after a female member of staff confronted a male youth about his behaviour inside the premises. 

The man approached the staff member and proceeded to verbally abuse her while she phoned the Gardaí.

Despite being informed by the staff member that her body-camera had been recording his actions inside the shop - and was continuing to record his behaviour toward her - the male was witnessed striking the woman with an item, believed to be the body camera in question, before immediately leaving the premises. 

The incident occurred near the till area and was witnessed by a number of customers and at least two staff members.

Longford Gardaí arrived swiftly at the branch on Market Square where they spoke with members of staff.   

No arrests have yet been made however Gardaí are "following a definite line of inquiry."
