Gardaí are advising homeowners to keep an eye on their home heating appliances this week following a number of reported thefts in Longford town.
Detectives are investigating at least two incidents over the past seven days which resulted in oil burners being taken from private residences.
Both took place last Thursday (March 10) in the MacEoin Park and Gleann Riada estates.
The incident at MacEoin Park took place between 12 midnight and 7am while the Gleann Riada incident occurred sometime between 1am and 10:30am.
Despite the proximity in location and time of both episodes, gardaí have not linked the incidents.
Instead, they are are appealing to anyone who might be offered these items for sale in the region to contact them at Longford Garda Station.
Likewise, investigating officers are hoping assistance from the general public will provide vital clues in the search for those responsible.
Separately, gardaí have launched an inquiry after around €150-worth of oil was taken from a house in the Beechwood area of Clonbalt Woods in Longford town.
The incident took place last Friday week (March 4) between the hours of 12 midnight and 8am.
