Man (30's) tragically killed in three vehicle collision in Longford

The accident happened in Edgeworthstown at around 7pm this evening

One man in his 30's has tragically died following a collision involving 2 cars and a van in Edgeworthstown this evening.

The accident occurred at around 7pm on the Longford town side of the N4 after the Edgeworthstown roundabout.

A second man, also in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he is being treated for injuries described as serious but non-life threatening. 

Local diversions are in place as the road is currently closed for examination by the Forensic Collision Investigators. 

Emergency services are still on site.  

Motorists with dash cam footage who were travelling in the area between 6:30pm and 7:15pm this evening are asked to contact Longford Gardaí on 043 3350570 and to make the footage available to investigating Gardaí.

Details will be updated as the situation progresses.
