The patrol car following Saturday evening's crash outside Granard
Here are the pictures that show the aftermath of a freak accident that occurred when a car and a patrol car collided on the N55 at Cartron just outside Granard last Saturday evening.
The incident happened shortly after 8pm as Gardai were making their way to a house where a suspected burglary was taking place.
Four people - two Gardai and two civilians - were hospitalised.
One male in his 40’s and a male and female in their 60’s were brought by ambulance to Mullingar General Hospital where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
A male in his 40’s was brought by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital, also for non life threatening injuries.
All four are said to have sustained very bad bruising as a result of the crash.
Gardaí say investigations into the collision are ongoing.
