Longford drivers warned of deep floods and debris from tonight until Sunday

Heavy rainfall expected this weekend

Longford County Council advice

Longford County Council issued the advice amid a spate of weather warnings across Ireland

Longford County Council have issued advice to motorists taking to the roads this weekend amid stormy weather conditions.
With ground already saturated from the heavy rain of recent days, and with significant further rainfall expected this weekend, floods may be deeper than anticipated, so road users are being advised not to risk driving through floodwater.
The council also cautioned motorists to watch out for debris on the roads, particularly where surface water is involved.
Lastly, drivers were reminded to watch out for flash floods, and to also bear in mind that wet roads means a longer stopping distance so drive slow this weekend and increase the space between your car and the one in front of you.
