From Longford to Templemore! 1 hour left until Garda college deadline closes

3pm marks the deadline to submit your application to join the Gardaí so if you want to be in with a chance of embarking on an exciting new profession, you will need to apply through www.publicjobs.ie

The age limit for applicants to the force has also increased, so anyone between the ages of 18-50 can now apply.

Those who pass the initial stages of the rigorous selection procedure, in addition to passing the Garda vetting process, will be accepted into Templemore where they will spend 36 weeks training and gaining on the ground work experience.  

For the duration of their training, Garda students will receive a weekly wage of €354 in addition to free accommodation and food in Templemore College.

Upon completion of the training, qualified Gardai will be placed on a starting salary of €38,694 and can look forward to a career path that will present multiple opportunities to work in a wide variety of fields including Community Policing, Public Order, Detective Duties, investigating Organised Crime, Traffic Control and Regulation, Fraud and Drugs Offences, etc.  

Speaking about the recruitment drive, Longford Inspector Declan McGlynn said, “I haven't met anyone yet, in any age group, who hasn't been delighted with the decision they've made to join the Gardaí. Even in the surveys we do, the job satisfaction levels are up there in the high percentages.”
