Localised flooding likely, says Met Éireann
A yellow rain warning has been issued by Met Éireann for Longford and 13 other counties as Storm Amy makes landfall in Ireland tomorrow morning.
The warning will come into force tomorrow, Thursday Oct 2, at 6am and will remain in effect until 8pm.
With a day of widespread heavy rain and very blustery winds in store for Longford, Met Éireann have anticipated difficult travelling conditions and localised flooding.
Tomorrow's yellow warning also affects Cavan, Donegal, Munster and Connacht.
Met Éireann are currently tracking the storm - the first named of the season - and say they will issue updates as they occur, and as certainty increases.
Conditions are expected to remain wet and windy throughout Friday with heavy rain spreading north-eastwards across the country and near gale-force winds set to develop.
Based on current meteorological readings, Met Éireann say they expect these weather conditions to continue into next week.
