A number of the group had worked in healthcare in their home countries and LCRL Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme supported the group to complete two modules of a Level 6 Healthcare course. There is a serious shortage of healthcare staff in Ireland and two members of the group have already found employment in Longford.

Speaking at the event Rita Slevin (Employment and Training Mediator, LCRL) said, “These people have arrived in Longford after long and difficult journeys. They are all eager to contribute to Irish society and hopefully will go on to successful careers in the Healthcare Sector.”
