Great excitement is building in Bunlahy this week as Niall and Paul Belton look forward to hosting the rescheduled Longford Ploughing Championships this Sunday, April 28. The main sponsor for the event is Midland Agri Consultants, Granard.

Although the event was twice postponed due to wet weather, the exciting lineup of family entertainment, music, dancing and fun activities remains full to the brim.

Longford Ploughing Association PRO Luke Casey expressed a special thank you to all entertainers, stall owners and exhibitors for their understanding and support in recent weeks as the rain washed their plans away.

He added, “Full compliments to all contributors for your commitment in returning to Longford’s annual ploughing festival, an event which attracts thousands of returning visitors every year.”

Longford Pony Club will have a spectacular fun arena with members tackling novelty challenges. Enjoy some time at the Dog Show, fairground arena or the pet displays. Top class catering on site and oodles of novelty family games organised by Macra and Ballymore GAA.

Mr Casey remarked, “From the Grassman stand to celebrity ploughing with Ireland's No. 1 music video star Sina Theil and IFA Deputy President Alice Doyle, there is lots to enjoy at Ireland's largest springtime ploughing festival Longford Ploughing.”

Following all the delays due to the weather, a new date has been announced for the Queen of the Plough dance. All roads lead to Creegans, Bunlahy, on Saturday night, May 18 for the Queen of the Plough dance with live music from ‘Nite Fever’.

Tickets for the Queen of the Plough are available on the field next Sunday. A special door prize draw of  €500 for ticket holders is being sponsored by Luke Bogue, so get your tickets early and don't miss your chance of winning.
