A woman who allegedly attempted to steal over €560 worth of Easter eggs, red bull and other groceries and then tried to pay a staff member not to report it, is due to reappear in court in July.

Mary Lawrence (27), of 1 The Hollow, Longford, appeared last week before Judge Bernadette Owens at Longford District Court.

Sergeant Enda Daly, for the state, told the court that, on March 30, 2024, at a local store, it is alleged that Ms Lawrence entered the premises around 3pm.

“She filled a trolley with groceries, mainly Easter eggs and red bull,” said Sgt Daly.

While at the till, she allegedly became aware of a till malfunction and only paid for three items, worth €40, and then attempted to leave the shop with the other items.
