Longford soldiers return from last United Nations mission to Syria

Longford soldiers recently returned home after they completed the final United Nations mission to Syria in April 2024.

Pictured above are Sergeant Trevor Moloney, Fr Declan Shannon, Chaplin and Corporal Jamie Mulligan as the 68th Infantry Group in Golan Heights, Syria, closed the final Irish mission to Syria.

Sergeant  Trevor Moloney, originally from Lanesboro, has completed four tours of overseas service with United Nations peacekeeping forces and is Cook Sergeant with 28th Infantry Battalion in Finner Camp.

Fr Declan Shannon is a native of Longford town and is Army Chaplain attached to 6th Infantry Battalion  Custume  Barracks Athlone. 

Corporal Jamie Mulligan has completed three tours of overseas service with the United Nations peacekeeping forces and is based with 6th Infantry Battalion in Custume Barracks Athlone.
