The much anticipated Longford Slashers Social Night took place on Saturday last in the Longford Arms Hotel. This was a fantastic night from start to finish, and was a wonderful way to kick off 2024, the year we celebrate 70 years as a club. We must say a huge thank you to Kathleen O'Connell and team for organising, and to Orlagh Reynolds and the Longford Arms Hotel for hosting. This was an opportunity to get together as a club and celebrate our successes of 2023 while looking forward to the year ahead. Presentations were made on the night as follows: Fr Donal Gearty Minor Clubman of the year award - Diarmaid and Darragh Caslin; Senior Football Player of the Year - Darragh O'Connell; Liam Hastings Senior Hall of Fame - Benny O'Brien. A special no 2 jersey was presented to the wonderful Dermot Brady as he hangs up his sky blue jersey. Dermot has been an ever present for Slashers for so many years and will be sorely missed. The 5 in a row county medals were presented to the senior ladies and county medals to the U20's. The 2022 All Ireland ladies win was marked with a commemorative picture mounted on marble presented to the ladies and men’s chairpersons.

Longford Leader / Longford Live photographer Syl Healy was in the Longford Arms Hotel on Saturday, January 27, and he captured this gallery of super photographs and we hope you enjoy them. And don't forget to tag and share with your friends!
