Athena Fine Art Gallery and Café on Ballymahon Street, Longford town opens its doors this Friday, December 1 and proprietor Anna Peters wishes to express a massive thank you to all the wonderful and generous people who supported her with the opening of her new business.
Speaking to the ‘Longford Leader’, Anna remarked, “I would particularly like to thank all the wonderful and generous people who have supported me so far with the opening of Athena Fine Art Gallery and Café.
“In particular, Joe Flaherty TD, who has shown a keen interest and assisted me greatly in the process of opening, Michael Nevin and Catherine Kane from the Local Enterprise Office Longford who placed their belief in me and they have supported me greatly.”
Anna continued, “I wish to thank Geraldine Stewart who mentored me with the business side of Athena, Gerry and Damien Shannon who I raided for quality timber products, Jimmy and Paul Clancy who again have been so generous in helping me with equipment and timber, Michael Hanley, Lanesboro for advice and supplies, Eoin McGinnity in Providers for advice and supplies, Agatha Farrell from Farrell and Coy, helping me promote my business and fantastic enthusiastic guidance and advice.
“A very special thank you to Gareth Flaherty for his beautiful carpentry and also for the assistance and support from Michael Egan.”
Anna says Athena Fine Art Gallery and Café is ‘a beautiful space’ and she also extended a very special thank you to Tony McKiernan, Kevin Hanley, Simon Beirne and Aaron McBride ‘who have completed such a wonderful job on the gallery. And Padraig Ward for the patience and belief whilst arrangements were put into place’.
Anna thanked Connellan Solicitors and O’Boyle and Co accountants for the professional guidance they provided her with. She also thanked Gabriel and Trevor in Lynch Flooring, Roscommon for going the extra mile under pressure.
She reserved special mention for her family, “There are many many other people to thank and especially my family, my mum and dad, Steve and Marie, for the belief, guidance and support, my sister Laura and brother Bryn, my grandmother Josie O’Sullivan for having such an interest, my wonderful uncles, aunties and cousins, friends and the business community of Longford.
“My boyfriend, Chris Brady, for the love, support and understanding of the time and dedication needed to open Athena and for the constant running around!
“Lastly my Grand dad, Pat O’Sullivan, who we sadly lost in 2020. Grand dad loved his art and was a constant inspiration and source of support and encouragement during my journey from school to college, many of the art and gifts that will be on display have been produced by his tools and ideas.”
Anna says she is looking forward to welcoming everyone to Athena from Friday, December 1.
