Laura Doherty is an artist from Killoe, Co Longford. Laura was involved in a serious car accident in 2009 where she sustained an acquired brain injury.

At the time of her accident Laura was working as a doctor in Temple Street Children's Hospital. Due to sustaining an acquired brain injury, she has been unable to continue work as a doctor.

However, Laura has demonstrated much strength and determination, and has channeled so much hard work, energy and creativity into her art.

On November 7 last, Laura held an Art Exhibition in Edgeworthstown Library. The Edgeworthstown Library staff were wonderfully supportive and helpful in organising the exhibition.

Laura donated the proceeds of the exhibition towards An Saol Foundation, which is a charity based in Santry, Dublin, that provides much needed neurorehabilitation and social support to people living with severe Acquired Brain Injury and their families in Ireland. Laura raised €4,945 for An Saol Foundation.

Laura recently presented the donation cheque of €4,945  from her Art Exhibition on November 7 in Edgeworthstown library to Reinhard Schaler, CEO of An Saol Foundation, a charity for people living with severe acquired brain injury in Ireland, and service users of An Saol Foundation.

Laura would like to thank all who bought art on the night of her exhibition and who generously contributed towards funds for An Saol Foundation.
