Gardaí launch probe over suspected petrol bomb attack on house in Longford town

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a suspected petrol bomb was thrown at a house in Longford town during the early hours of yesterday morning.

 

The incident occurred at a property located along the Richmond Street area of the county town shortly after 7:30am.

The Leader understands the suspected device shattered on impact and failed to cause significant damage to the house in question.

Investigating gardaí are now focusing their attention on a possible motive behind the incident and why the house was targeted.

There is no indication at this stage, the episode is the direct result of a feud, though one line of inquiry is believed to be focused on a possible drug related link.

"Gardaí are investigating an alleged criminal damage incident that is reported to have occurred at approximately 7:40am on Sunday 29th October 2023 at a residence on Richmond Street, Longford town," said a garda spokesperson.

"Investigating are continuing."
