Longford County Council planners have granted permission to a solar farm to adjust a condition of their previously approved planning application.
In September 2020 Grian PV Longford Ltd was given the go-ahead for the Cleggill Solar Park. The project received funding under the Renewable Energy Support Scheme.
The address of the development is Cleggill, Longford, Longford. One submission on the file was from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage which noted the proposed development is large in scale and located within close proximity to a recorded monument, a ringfort, and required an archaeological assessment of the area.
The parent company, Grian PV Longford Ltd, has a business address of Blg Financial, 3rd Floor the Boat House, Bishop Street Dublin 8.
The company sought an amendment to the previously approved development. The amendment was to vary the wording of a condition of the planning permission in relation to access for the delivery of components to the Solar Farm.
The local authority planners approved the application subject to three conditions.
Those conditions are that the applicant is required to engage the services of a suitably qualified archaeologist to carry out an archaeological assessment of the development site; the archaeologist shall carry out any relevant documentary research and inspect the development site; and having completed the work, the archaeologist will submit a written report stating their recommendations to the Planning Authority and to this local authority planning department.
