Down Memory Lane | Watch as history comes alive in Longford during 1998 reenactment of the Battle of Ballinamuck

The biggest historical event in the midlands – The 225th Commemoration of 'The Battle of Ballinamuck' - is well underway following last night's spectacular fireworks display from Kiltycreevagh and Shanmullagh Hills.

And ahead of tomorrow's (Saturday, September 9) Battle of Ballinamuck Re-enactment getting underway around 12.30pm here is some classic RTE archive footage from 1998 and the 200th Anniversary Commemoration of 'The Battle of Ballinamuck' and the battle re-enactment from quarter of a century ago for you to enjoy.
