In advance of World Suicide Prevention Day, Pieta, Ireland’s national suicide prevention charity, is inviting businesses from across Longford to become a ray of hope for their communities and help tackle suicide by signing up to a new fundraising initiative ‘Go Amber’.
The campaign will kick off on World Suicide Prevention Day on Sunday, September 10 and run until October 10, coinciding with World Mental Health Day.
‘Go Amber’ marks the first ever fundraising campaign by Pieta around these important dates as the charity reflects on the difference made to over 70,000 lives since Pieta began in 2006.
This year alone Pieta has already provided over 26,000 free therapy hours across the country.
Fundraising is essential to providing Pieta’s services with donations covering over 85% of the cost of services. €1,200 funds comprehensive care for one person, so Pieta is calling on local businesses to get involved by participating in ‘Go Amber’ to help to magnify the impact of their contributions and help Pieta continue their support to prevent suicide in Ireland.
Ways Businesses Can Support ‘Go Amber’
1: Fundraise: Host fundraising events within your business, involving both staff and customers to contribute to the cause.
2: Donate: Make a direct contribution to Pieta’s mission or organise drive days to collect funds from your employees, customers, or community. Consider pledging a percentage of your profits or donating proceeds from a specific product or service.
3: Sign Up: Begin your ‘Go Amber’ fundraising journey by visiting www.goamber.ie
‘Creating Hope Through Action’
Stephanie Manahan, Pieta CEO said, “Our ‘Go Amber’ Campaign aligns with World Suicide Prevention Day and World Mental Health Day. This year the theme for World Suicide Prevention day is ‘Creating Hope Through Action’ and by rallying Irish SME’s and communities we are showcasing the remarkable impact the collective action can achieve.
We invite businesses of all sizes to join us, engage in fundraising events, donate generously, and help spread awareness of Pieta’s crucial services by connecting with local communities and creating hope through action.”
Participating businesses will receive a distinguished Go Amber decal, to proudly display the affiliation with this impactful initiative. Alongside this, a prestigious Go Amber Certificate of Competition, symbolising your dedication to positive change, will be presented.
But that's not all – each participating business and community, depending on funds raised, will also be offered the opportunity to attend one of Pieta’s SIGNs talks hosted by a Pieta therapist.
