Gardaí are hunting for a male thief who robbed an elderly man in Legan yesterday while posing as a serving garda
Gardaí have launched an investigation after a thief posing as a garda entered the home of a pensioner in south Longford yesterday evening and stole a sum of money.
At around 5pm, a male suspect purporting to be a garda entered the home of an elderly man to steal a quantity of cash.
It's believed the victim was unharmed during the incident as gardaí focus their attention on identifying the suspect involved.
"Gardaí are investigating a burglary that occurred at a residence in Legan, Co. Longford on Thursday evening, 31st August 2023," said a garda spokesperson.
"At approximately 5:00pm, a male impersonating a member of An Garda Síochána entered the residence of an elderly male.
"A sum of cash was taken in the course of the burglary.
"Investigations are ongoing."
