Lecture on the 1923 general election
County Longford Historical Society will host a lecture by Dr Mel Farrell on the 1923 general election on Tuesday, 15 August, at 7.30pm in Longford Library.
The general election of August 1923 was the first to take place after the Civil War and Dr Farrell will explore its national and local significance.
A native of Ardagh, Dr Farrell lectures in Carlow College, St Patrick’s, and is an expert on the history of the Irish Free State. The lecture is part of the Heritage Week Programme.
