Granard gets set  to host 72nd Agricultural  Show

The north Longford town of Granard will take pride of place on the local calendar this weekend as it prepares to host its 72nd agricultural show.

Show enthusiasts and exhibitors from across Longford and surrounding counties are expected to converge on the town's Higginstown Complex for a two day extravaganza that has been the best part of 12 months in the making.

The fruits of those endeavours were alluded to at a well attended launch night last Thursday in the town's newly renovated former Ulster Bank premises.

“We are a small committee but with great drive and passion and we want our show to be one of the best in the midlands region if at all possible,” said chairman Gerry Tully.
