Longford gardaí arrest bogus taxi operator
Longford Gardaí arrested a bogus taxi driver this week.
As part of a joint operation alongside the NTA (National Transport Authority), gardaí stopped a car in Longford.
They found that the driver was acting as a taxi without the proper licence or insurance.
The driver of the vehicle is now facing court proceedings and according to the NTA website, a possible fine of up to up to €5,000.
The bogus taxi driver in Longford is not the first to come to the attention of Gardaí and the NTA.
A month ago, also in the midlands, two vehicles and drivers were found to be operating as taxis without the proper licences or insurance.
Court is to follow for both motorists.
