Acclaimed musicians Alias Fitz and Shane Kennedy enrapture Longford audience with Bob Dylan classics
A set design evoking a relaxed setting where two friends jam a few tunes they love was the backdrop for a delightful evening of musical entertainment as Backstage Theatre.
DYLAN DYAD was show featured classics, rarities and crowd favourites from the pen of Bob Dylan interpreted by acclaimed musicians Alias Fitz and Shane Kennedy.
This celebration of rock's greatest icon captured the spirit of Robert Allen Zimmerman in a recital that enraptured the Backstage audience.
From counter culture anthems like “Blowin' in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changin” to “Like a Rolling Stone” the duo zipped through the Dylan catalogue in a show that captivated the audience.
Pauric Fitzpatrick, aka Alias Fitz, and Shane Kennedy presented a show that bubbled with life. Kennedy provided context to track list, explaining certain selections, while Alias Fitz was more inclined to let the music do the talking.
Both singers have very melodic voices, they are respectful of the vocal complexity the Minnesota maestro infuses his creations with, while at the same time not venturing to mimic him.
Alias Fitz presents his vocal with a clarity and mellifluence, while Kennedy's haunting raspiness imbues the songs with tremendous emotional depth.
A subtle light design added to the homeliness of the performance.
Together, Alias and Shane curated a unique show that took the audience on a journey through the many musical lives of the legendary Bob Dylan.
A true night of musical magic at Backstage Theatre.
