First Longford Rose of Tralee selection night since 2019 not to be missed!

Thirteen impressive Longford Rose hopefuls will gather at the Longford Arms Hotel this Saturday, May 6 for a night full of entertainment, glamour and above all great fun as we find out who will be selected to represent Longford at the Rose of Tralee International Festival in August.

It is four years since Longford selected a Rose representative, with the 2019 winner being Killoe’s Marie Brady.

Marie had the distinction of becoming the fifth Longford Rose to appear on stage at the world famous Tralee Dome, following in the footsteps of Caroline Doyle (2016), Daphne Howard (2015), Aisling Farrell (2013) and Grainne Fox (2007). So Saturday’s winner will become Longford’s sixth Rose to feature in the televised ‘live’ interviews.

Longford Rose Coordinator 2023, Steve Cronly, said they are inviting people to come along early on Saturday as tickets are almost sold out for what promises to be a night to remember.  “Doors open at 7.15pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm sharp. Tickets are €25 and they will be available on the evening of Saturday, May 6.”

There will be prizes for ‘Best dressed Lady’, ‘Best Dressed Man’ and ‘Best Banner’, as well as a raffle, and plenty of nice prizes to be won.

Mr Cronly expressed thanks to all local sponsors, host sponsor the Longford Arms Hotel, and media partners The Longford Leader / Longford Live and Shannonside Radio.

The Roses will appear on stage where they will be interviewed by the accomplished Benny O’Brien and get an opportunity to perform a party piece of their choice if they so wish.

All Roses will also be interviewed by a judging panel prior to Rose Selection night. They have been meeting for the past number of weeks and the final get together will take place in PV’s Longford on Friday where the Roses will get the opportunity to have a relaxed dinner and chat about the upcoming selection night.

The girl who is chosen as the 2023 Longford Rose will walk away with the coveted Longford Rose sash to go on to represent Longford in the Dome in Tralee and will be  sponsored by Grafters Hair Company Longford where the lucky Rose will have Pauline Coady Belton and her team looking after her for her reign as Longford Rose.

The road to the Dome is an incredible journey where Roses will visit some of Ireland’s most famous and symbolic, historic sporting and tourism landmarks in Wexford, Kildare and Meath, Offaly, Longford and Limerick.
