Date set for Longford's Camlin Keys Piano Festival

Further to their successful application to Longford County Council under the Creative Ireland Community Open Call, Camlin Keys Piano Festival is delighted with the support received so far in their initial set up.

The event date is confirmed for Saturday, June 17, with the lovely St John's Church as the main concert and workshop venue.  St John's National School on the Battery Road, are facilitating the competition classes.

Joanna Pearman commented, "We hope the Camlin Keys Piano Festival, Longford's latest contribution to the festival calendar, will provide an occasion for pianists of all ages and abilities to play, perform and compete in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

"County Longford has a wealth of pianists, piano teachers and students - producing the finest musicians of all genres of music. Our event aims to create the opportunity to perform in front of an audience in a friendly, supportive environment.  We plan to host competitions, recitals, masterclasses, introductory sessions for all ages, workshops, recreational activities and a piano party!"

Ms Pearman continued, "We would really like as much input into the structure of the festival from Longford's musical community, whether it is ideas for events or workshops.  If you have a piano skill, strength or special interest you'd be willing to share, we'd love to provide the space for you to do it.

"Piano teachers, we would welcome you thoughts on classes and events, without you, there wouldn't be a piano community.  Anyone who might like to get involved or have a skill-set to share, please join us for coffee on Friday, May 5 in the front bar of The Longford Arms Hotel at 11am we would love to meet you.  If you can't make it there, then please drop us an email or text - 085 265 4240."

Of course, it is not only musicians Camlin Keys want to attract, but an audience too.

Ms Pearman added, "We would welcome support and input into the development of this project from local enterprises.  Perhaps with a venue option, hosting an event or sponsorship of prizes and classes. All ideas are welcome, to what we hope will become a feature of the Irish musical calendar. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at camlinkeyspianofestival@gmail.com."
