Pre Covid times, some of the service users from St Christopher’s dreamed about recording their favourite song in a recording studio and releasing it on CD.

Amanda Sweeney revealed, “We spoke on several occasions about making this dream become a reality, however, the pandemic temporarily suspended this dream for our six service users.” READ MORE BELOW PHOTO

When restrictions were lifted and normality resumed, the group were granted the funding from Longford County Council to complete this exciting new project.

Amanda explained, “After a few months of rehearsing, we made our first trip to Poorseans Studios in Ardnacassa, Longford. Over the course of two very exciting weeks we visited Sean’s studio where we recorded our six fabulous tracks.”

The St Christopher’s ‘Six Hearts, One Soul’ CD consists of six wonderful tracks and the songs and artists are as follows:

Bantry Girls Lament – Sinead McGuire
Caledonia – Rosie Maguire
Grace – Triona Maloney
Mairi’s Wedding – Joe Mimnagh
Octupus’s Garden – John Millar

Cllr Peggy Nolan officially launched ‘Six Hearts, One Soul’ on Thursday, March 30 at Longford rugby club.

Amanda, who is also a talented musician, concluded, “A very special thank you to Longford County Council for funding this project and to Cllr Peggy Nolan for all her support throughout.

"Thank you to Sean Sweeney at Poorseans studios for his wonderful commitment and professionalism and to our musicians Paul Gurney, Sean Sweeney and Noel Sweeney. Also to Debra Dowler, Debra Communications for her fantastic work. To the wonderful management and staff in St Christopher’s and to all who helped and supported us in making this happen.”
