A Longford man allegedly found with a crossbow and six bolts at a house in north Longford told gardaí upon his arrest: “I am sorry for having this in my possession.”
Gerard Donoghue (38), 3 Farrell's Terrace, Granard, Longford, appeared at a sitting of Longford District Court last week charged under Section 2 of the Firearms Act 1925.
Garda Michael Fox gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
The accused was charged with allegedly being found in the possession of a cross bow and six bolts at 3 Farrells Terrace, Granard, Co Longford on November 16, 2021.
He told of arresting the accused on February 22 on Longford's Battery Road.
Garda Fox said he charged and cautioned Mr Donoghue at which point the accused replied: “I am sorry for having this in my possession.”
Judge Owens was told directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had yet to be returned.
Mr Donoghue, who stood in the body of the court during the course of last week's five minute hearing, remained silent throughout.
Mr Donoghue was remanded on continuing bail to a sitting of Longford District Court on July 4.
