Longford Westmeath General Election 2024 updates: Aontú candidate Laura O'Neill eliminated after count 10

As counting continues at Count John McCormack Centre in Athlone the number of votes to be transferred gets higher, but the number of recipients get lower.

Eight candidates remain as the hunt for the 10,315 votes to be declared a TD continues.

The next batch of votes to be transferred belonged to Aontú candidate Laura O'Neill, her 2,472 ballots should shake up the figures, and flag if the elimination of Gerry Warnock has any prospects of an upset.

Seasoned campaigners are suggesting it is all over bar the shouting, but few would sign off on the end result until the next three eliminations are finished.
