Moyne Community School were denied a place in the North Leinster U-16 ‘B’ decider following a strong second half comeback by St. Mary’s, Edenderry in the semi-final clash at the Bunbrosna grounds on Wednesday of last week.
St. Mary’s Edenderry 4-9
Moyne CS 0-9
Moyne held what appeared to be a comfortable six-point lead at the break but failed to register a single score throughout the entire second half with the rampant Offaly outfit clocking up a remarkable 4-6 to emerge victorious.
Full-forward Ross McNerney produced a terrific first half display for Moyne, firing over six points (five from play), while the midfield pairing of Conor Hawkins and Mark Breslin were winning all the breaks as the north Longford school ended up 0-9 to 0-3 in front at the break.
But it was all St. Mary’s in the second half and as soon as their first goal materialised the pressure was firmly on Moyne who eventually collapsed in crashing to a disappointing defeat.
