In the other fixtures played in Round 2 of the All County Football League Division 1 last weekend the title holders Longford Slashers scored a comfortable win over Ballymahon with the county champions having the comfortable margin of eight points to spare in the finish. The game took place at Moran Park in Carrickedmond on Saturday evening as repair work continues on the pitch at Leo Casey Park.
Trailing by two points at the break, 1-4 to 1-2, Colmcille gradually got on top in the second half of their clash against Granard at McGee Park on Saturday evening and ended up beating St. Mary’s 2-11 to 2-8 while it was all too easy for Clonguish who cruised to a most emphatic 5-12 to 0-3 victory over poor Ardagh St. Patrick’s in a completely one-sided encounter at Allen Park.
There were further wins for Cashel (v Legan), Rathcline (v Sean Connolly’s), Carrickedmond (v Moydow) and Ballymore (v Killashee) in Division 2 of the All County Football League last weekend and the four Intermediate clubs have all collected full points to set the early pace in this competition. However, something will have to give on Good Friday when neighbouring rivals Cashel and Rathcline clash in a most intriguing Round 3 fixture at the Clonbonny grounds.
In the other remaining game played in Division 2, Young Grattans registered their first win when they overcame the challenge of Kenagh.
