Mullinalaghta booked their place in the final of the U-21 ‘B’ Football Championship for the third successive year with a determined performance against Colmcille/Sean Connolly’s at Edgeworthstown’s Devine Park on Sunday last.
And but for the heroics of St. Columba’s goalkeeper David O’Rourke, who saved an injury time penalty from Dessie Lennon, the amalgamation might well have emerged victorious.
The title holders Mullinalaghta got off to a great start with four unanswered points from the impressive JJ Matthews after just 12 minutes of play. Eventually, it was left to Dessie Lennon to register the first score for Colmcille/Connolly’s four minutes later.
