Ratoath College rattled in the semi-final

Well-taken frees from midfielder David McGivney and corner-forward Rian Brady guided Cnoc Mhuire, Granard to a four points victory against Ratoath College of Meath in an entertaining Leinster Vocational Schools Senior ‘A’ Football Championship semi-final at the St. Loman’s GAA grounds in Mullingar on Tuesday of last week.

Cnoc Mhuire led from start to finish with the impressive David McGivney slotting over three frees which proved crucial against a wasteful Ratoath outfit who failed to capitalise on a number of scoring chances in the first half and ended up trailing by 0-5 to 0-3 at the break.

An excellent goal from Mattie Gorman four minutes into the second half proved to be a crucial score for the north Longford school and with the accurate Rian Brady on target with a number of well struck points from both play and frees, Cnoc Mhuire booked their place in the provincial title decider in fairly comfortable fashion.

A goal from Ratoath player David Toner on the stroke of full-time left the Meath school three points behind but Rian Brady clinched a well deserved victory for Cnoc Mhuire when firing over a terrific free for his fifth point of the game.
