Longford lost out to Kildare in the Lidl Ladies Football National League Division 3B Round 2 fixture played at Emmet Park, Killoe on Sunday.

Kildare . . . 2-11   Longford . . . 2-5

The home county were forced to field without influential full-back Leanne Keegan and centre-half-forward Grace Shannon but they were full value for an early 1-2 to 0-0 lead with the impressive Michelle Farrell blasting home the goal in the first minute.

Kildare battled back to level matters at the break, 1-4 to 1-4, and it was always going to be a real uphill battle for Longford against the strong wind in the second half.

The Lilywhites pulled away to win by the comfortable margin of six points in the finish to book their place in the Division 3 semi-finals but Longford can also qualify for the last four if they win away to Wexford on Sunday next.
