Ballymahon’s Fergal Kelly set to referee his third Longford SFC final

Big match referee . . . Ballymahon clubman Fergal Kelly

One of the leading inter-county referees in the country, Fergal Kelly from the Ballymahon club, is set to take charge of his third Longford Senior Football Championship Final on Sunday when Colmcille and Killoe Emmet Og clash for the Connolly Cup. 

Fergal refereed his first Longford SFC title decider back in 2013 between Longford Slashers and Dromard (Slashers winning 1-11 to 1-9) and Kelly was also the whistle blower in the replay of the 2018 title decider, Mullinalaghta v Abbeylara, which was won in emphatic fashion by St Columba’s.
