The majestic Michael Flynn was the star of the show as commanding Clonguish proved much too  strong for gallant Dromard in the Senior Football Championship quarter-final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Saturday evening.

Clonguish . . . 6-12   Dromard . . . 3-12

The title favourites recovered from a sluggish start to eventually assert their superiority with the lethal Flynn clocking up the impressive total of 3-6 (4 frees) with all of his three goals coming in a glorious spell between the 13th and 22nd minutes in the first half.

Moments later it was the turn of his brother Cormac who flicked the ball to the net and it was all over as a  contest at the break with Dromard trailing by nine points on a 4-5 to 0-8 scoreline.

Inspired by a fine display from their full-back Ronan Sweeney, Clonguish kept the scoreboard ticking over in the second half with further goals from Jack Duggan and substitute James Hagan but the concession of three goals will be a matter of some concern for the management team of Liam Belton and John Twaddle.

Aaron Farrell raced through to blast the ball to the net in the 50th minute and there were further consolation goals for Dromard from Oisin O’Toole and Farrell close to the final whistle.
