Showing a fierce desire to secure the win they needed to clinch a place in the Longford Senior Football Championship quarter-finals, delighted Carrickedmond achieved their aim to defeat the already qualified Dromard in a thrilling Group A clash at Allen Park on Friday night last.
Just a single point (0-19 to 0-18) separated the sides in an extremely tense finish with Dromard denied a last gasp equaliser by the width of the upright and the stage is now set for the last eight with Mullinalaghta also making it through following their easy win over Fr Manning Gaels.
The Group A fixture between Killoe and Colmcille (playing for top spot) was postponed due to a bereavement in Colmcille with the game refixed for Higginstown in Granard this Saturday (7pm).
Prediction: Killoe
The winners will meet Mullinalaghta while the losers will take on the title holders Abbeylara.
A place in the Senior Hurling Championship final is at stake in the Round 3 showdown between Wolfe Tones Mostrim and Clonguish Gaels at Michael Fay Park on Sunday (2pm) with the winners advancing to meet Longford Slashers in the county title decider.
SHC Round 3 Prediction: Wolfe Tones
