Despite a late, late comeback from Grattans that reduced a seven-point deficit with two minutes of normal time remaining to just the minimum margin three minutes into stoppage time, Ardagh Moydow deservedly held on for a one-point victory in the Intermediate Football Championship Group A Round 1 clash at McGann Park in Kenagh on Friday night.

Ardagh Moydow . . . 1-14    Young Grattans . . . 3-7

With the comfortable lead intact Ardagh Moydow looked to be cruising to victory but then Peter Farrell struck with 1-3 without reply for Grattans to leave just a point between the teams.

On fifty-nine minutes, Farrell managed to just about squeeze a free inside the uprights and then in the first minute of injury time, he latched onto a perfect pass from McHugh and rattled the  net.

When Farrell converted a two-point long-range free sixty seconds later, the game was suddenly in the melting pot.

However, Grattans final attack of the match was stopped when Gerard Farrell intercepted a pass and the vastly experienced Ardagh Moydow defender held on to the ball as referee Ger Carberry blew the final whistle.

Excellent attacker Killian Farrell fired over 4 points (all from play) while the other corner-forward Dylan Coady got the goal and a couple of converted frees for Ardagh Moydow who held a slender 1-5 to 2-1 lead at the break.
