The jubilant Longford U-15 hurlers celebrate their one-point win (2-13 to 3-9) over Fermanagh in the Hibernia Challenge Final at Kingspan Breffni Park on Thursday night last
Longford underage hurling is enjoying considerable success at the moment and another title was landed as the U-15 hurlers survived a spirited second half comeback from Fermanagh in the Hibernia Challenge Final at Kingspan Breffni Park on Thursday night last.
Longford . . . 2-13 Fermanagh . . . 3-9
Building on the recent U-17 triumph against the same opposition in the Celtic Challenge Series, Longford were apparently cruising in the U-15 decider after establishing what appeared to be a commanding 2-9 to 1-2 half-time lead with Thomas Reilly and Senan Neilon scoring the goals.
Fermanagh piled on the pressure in the second half as the gap was gradually closed and the sides were all square in a frantic finish before a last minute free converted by Ethan Donnellan clinched the exciting win for Longford.
