Longford IFC: Great win for Ballymore as Ardagh Moydow relegated to the Junior grade

Last year’s Junior ‘A’ title winners Ballymore kept alive their hopes of reaching the Intermediate Football Championship semi-finals following a great win over Ardagh Moydow in the Round 6 clash at the Monaduff grounds in Drumlish on Friday night.

The narrow margin of two points separated the sides in a tense finish and while the Dermot Murphy managed Ballymore will make it through to the last four if they succeed in beating Cashel in the remaining group stage fixture, it has all ended in bitter disappointment for Ardagh Moydow who are relegated to the Junior Championship next year.   

Ballymore should have won by a wider margin but a missed penalty, nine wides, a scoreable free that came back off the upright and two goal attempts that struck the crossbar and the post kept Ardagh Moydow in the contest right up until the final whistle.
