After receiving quite a scare in their narrow three point win over Waterford in a tough battle at the Ballygunner GAA grounds on Saturday last, Longford will be seeking to collect another vital two points in the National Football League at home to London on Sunday next, throw-in 1pm.
It was a sigh of relief for manager Paddy Christie and his fellow mentors Dessie Sloyan and Cosmas Gilmore as a badly needed first victory was registered in the current league campaign and this positive result keeps the promotion hopes alive in the competitive Division 4.
It could be much the same story for the visit of a revitalised London outfit who will be in a fairly confident frame of mind after the boost of the excellent draw against Tipperary in Ruislip on Sunday last.
Substitute Cahir Healy, the former Laois star, popped up to score the equalising point in the eighth minute of the lengthy stoppage time and London will be coming to Longford in the hope of causing another upset.
The Round 4 clash is the first leg of a double bill at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday (throw-in 1pm) with the Longford ladies also in NFL action against Wicklow (3.30pm).
