The future is certainly extremely bright for Clonguish on the evidence of their very easy victory over Killoe in the U-21 ‘A’ Football Championship Final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Sunday.

Clonguish . . . 0-25   Killoe Emmet Og . . . 1-6

In capturing the U-21 county title for the second year in succession, the Clonguish club came out on top by the wide margin of 16 points in the finish with senior players Jack Duggan (0-9) and Matthew Carey (0-5) inflicting most of the damage in a sharp attack.

Minus the injured Darren Moffett, outclassed Emmet Og were no match for the rampant Newtownforbes outfit who were denied a goal when the man of the match award winner Duggan struck a cracking shot against the crossbar in the early stages of the second half.

Killoe got off to a brilliant start when Colm Coyle sent Cormac Harte racing through for a fabulous goal with less than two minutes gone in the game but Clonguish then took over completely to build up a commanding 0-12 to 1-3 lead at the break.

There was no way back for Killoe who were reduced to 14 players when Bernard Borland received a black card in the 47th minute and there was just no stopping Clonguish who added another 13 points to their most impressive tally in the second half.
