Goals at crucial stages of the game was the decisive factor as Ballymahon Forgney scored a comfortable win over Rathcline in the Ladies Football Junior Championship final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park on Saturday.

Ballymahon Forgney . . . 6-5   Rathcline . . . 1-10

Inspired by the player of the match award winner Eimear McDonagh who found the back of the net twice in quick succession in the 6th and 7th minutes, Ballymahon Forgney built on this brilliant start to lead to five points at the break, 4-2 to 1-6.

Impressive attacker McDonagh completed her hat-trick in the 22nd minute with the also prominent Aisling McCormack accounting for the other goal in the 18th minute.

Chloe Hopins pounced to snatch the Rathcline goal midway through the first half to give them a glimmer of hope but last year’s beaten finalists were always fighting an uphill battle.

Ballymahon Forgney kept the scoreboard ticking over in the second half in adding another 2-3 to their emphatic tally with McCormack (50th minute) and substitute Ciara Foxe (60th minute) getting the goals.
