Cashel recovered from a dreadful start that had them trailing by five points after just six minutes to run out comprehensive winners over Young Grattans at Michael Fay Park on Friday night to remain in contention for a place in the Intermediate Football Championship semi-finals.
Cashel . . . 3-15 Young Grattans . . . 1-10
Points from Shane O’Brien and a John Hand free were then followed by a brilliant Harry Mulvihill goal to give Grattans a 1-2 to 0-0 lead.
But Cashel gradually got their act together and ended up leading by 2-8 to 1-6 at the break with Andrew Farrell and Jack Sweeney scoring the crucial goals.
Damien Rooney’s side dominated the second half in adding another 1-7 to their emphatic tally, the late goal coming from substitute Padraig Farrell, while the impressive Padraig Syron fired over a total of eight points (5 frees) during the course of the game.
Cashel now face St Brigid’s Killashee in their last group match with both sides needing to win in their quest to qualify for the semi-finals
