Backstage Theatre Group (BTG) attended the Christmas Gig in the Longford Arms, Thursday December 16th for the Christmas Party and had a ball!
We had a full reserved table for the night and were able to sit back and relax to the tunes of the legendary Gerry O'Connor, who is not only a tremendously talented musician, but a wonderful story-teller too!
Singer/Songwriter Mundy, who is no stranger to Longford, was full of energy and in top form as he entertained us all with his most popular tunes, which never fail to get the crowd going. When Gerry O'Connor joined him on stage, it was a match made in musical heaven.
Tupelo ended the night with a set that got the crowd on their feet and had members of the BTG up dancing and twirling around the floor and doing jigs while Mundy and Kevin Duffy played the guitar and fiddle while dancing around the floor with us! A great night had by all.
Our first meeting of 2011 will be held in the Backstage Theatre Monday, January 10th to be followed by a reading of passages from two plays at the end of the meeting. This will take approx 10 minutes and will allow those that attend the opportunity to read in front of a small audience of their peers and hopefully it may lead to other such initiatives for the future meetings. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are very welcome.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our members a happy and healthy New Year!
