Catherine Hennessy, from Ballinalee, and her team of volunteers raised a staggering amount of almost €13,000 on a cake and coffee morning in the local hall recently.
The fundraiser was to go towards the purchase of an MRI Scan machine for Mullingar Hospital, and will make a real difference to the fund.
Most of us would say that it shouldn’t be necessary to raise funds, and that the Government should be doing that, but they’re not.
So Catherine and her team got to work.
If locals can achieve such an astonishing amount from one fundraiser it’s encouraging for the goodness of Ireland, and Irish people.
We can hope.
