The Abbey Hotel has been named as County Roscommon’s best hotel restaurant in the recent Irish Restaurant of the Year Awards 2012.
The long-established hotel, which is owned by the Grealy family, saw off stiff competition to claim the top hotel restaurant award at a prestigious ceremony held in Galway last week.
Judging for the event included a mystery guest visit, regional judging and menu judging.
Commenting in the aftermath of the awards win, Anya Grealy said, “It means quite a lot, that our standards are high and it’s nice to see the good work being done by our chefs recognised and it also ensures that we have pretty high standards. Our aim will be to continue to keep to that standard.”
The Abbey Hotel has been in the Grealy family since 1961. The hotel restaurant, which enjoys superb views of the nearby Roscommon Abbey, can seat 80 persons, while 300 people can be seated in the function room.
The Abbey Hotel also has 50 bedrooms and full leisure centre facilities and can also cater for conferences.
