Shawbrook Forest Festival in Longford this weekend

Shawbrook Youth Dance Touring Company will perform their award-winning solo and group pieces.
A family-friendly celebration of dance and music, the Shawbrook Forest Festival takes place on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30.

A family-friendly celebration of dance and music, the Shawbrook Forest Festival takes place on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30.

Kicking off at 7.30pm at the Backstage Theatre, an evening of exciting award-winning dance performances will open the festival on Friday night. This event will feature Shawbrook Youth Dance Company Junior Group and Shawbrook Youth Dance Touring Company, who will perform the award-winning ‘See Me’, which was choreographed by Catherine Young.

Tickets for this showcase cost just €12/€8 and are available from the Backstage Theatre at 043 33 47888 or online at www.backstage.ie.

The Legan-based dance school will open its doors to the public for an all-day spectacle.

The day begins with a solo dance performance from talented young dancers. This will be followed by a communal picnic in the forest with a range of acts on the open-stage to keep everybody entertained, including local band Arrow in the Sky. Later in the evening, West End star Ruth Berkeley will host a cabaret night in the theatre studio.
